Match.com Review: A half-hearted effort that yielded half-hearted results!

Match.com Review: A half-hearted effort that yielded half-hearted results!

Match.com is one of those dating sites that tried to impress me, but just ended up failing. There are other dating sites that could impress you though, but match.com simply did not impress me. They claimed to be the best matchmaker ever, by mentioning that they have been around since 1995. They got so wrapped up in creating one of the first dating sites online however; they did not follow through in actually being good at managing it. If they are not good enough, then can they expect to become one of the best sex dating sites?

Layout & Design

The site used a simple color palette and tile-based layout which is an excellent job of avoiding visual clutter. This is simply a normal design for people who have been around for quite a long time in the business. Imagine, people who have been doing this online before Web 1.0 was known as Web 1.0. Your matches can be adjusted to either a detailed view or a gallery View. If you have adopted an ‘aesthetics first’ dating mentality, the gallery view will remove all those silly words and just keep the photos – a decent way to make some snap decisions simply based on looks. The detailed view joins members’ names and photos with additional details; likes, dislikes, that sort of thing. All in all, the site presented proper ways to adjust and simplify your on-site experience, and that is something that takes a little poking around and studying, but will it be worth eventually?

Features

Match offers services that are based upon the money that you have paid to them. It is just the same as many other dating sites, so you can never really say that this is one of the best sex dating sites. If ‘free’ sounds like the right amount of money, they offer a trial period for the inexperienced. One great downside of this self-claiming best sex dating site is that they removed the ability to respond to member-generated comments on the trial version. So to avail to this specific service, you will be forced to get the paid version of it. And until you get the paid version, the site essentially turns you into a mute in a bar, desperately hoping his winks can be seen through the flashing lights of a bumping discotheque.

All the typical dating site features are only available once you are up and running with a paid account. You will now have the ability to respond to others, you can IM with members and you can see who has checked your account profile, as well as some few other features. The website will try to persuade you to get the more-advanced membership. These people are very straightforward in getting you to do this. Pay as you order so to speak. The only practical thing you get out of doing so is the ability to see when and if the messages you have sent to others are read, and needing that in my opinion is an insane thing. I cannot say this site is one of the best sex dating sites with this type of service.

The best sex dating sites are usually willing to provide activities and I mean more activities for their members, to elevate their level in the competition. To identify them from the rest. But what about Match.com? I personally have to tip my hat to their willingness to provide activities for their members. A small part of me wonders how many conversations at these offline events began with something along the lines of “Hi, aren’t you Prone Bone 1980?”

The Good and Bad Things about the Site

The site has a standard cost for the free membership at least and it also provides free editing services, which are helpful for those who don’t write eloquently. I enjoyed the ability to alter the way my matches were listed, and this is something I’d like to see more sites adopt in the future. The site also has a lot of members, maybe because they have been there far too long. If only this is all about the length of existence, it would have been one of the best sex dating sites.

The free trial version is not great, so you will really be forced to take the paid version. And 30 questions at the outset is a bit much. A paid membership doesn’t give you much to enjoy. Unless we are talking about my mom’s meatloaf, most of the things are a mix of good and bad. Match.com is one of those things, my mother’s meatloaf isn’t good. The introductory quiz that you are forced to write when you create a profile takes 30 minutes to finish. Aside from being lengthy, the questions that are asked are redundant. Why do I have to describe myself in words when I’ve already uploaded a picture to my profile? Aren’t pictures worth a thousand words? Don’t be greedy. Match.com, don’t you dare.

CONCLUSIONS

Match.com is one of those dating sites that tried to impress me, but just ended up failing. There are other dating sites that could impress you though, but match.com simply did not impress me. They claimed to be the best matchmaker ever, by mentioning that they have been around since 1995.
